Solar Financing in Dallas Fort Worth
Loans, home equity lines, prepaid leases, and ownership structures, explained plainly. We work with Texas lenders and tax equity partners so you can choose the path that fits your credit, your equity, and your plans for the house.
How Texas Homeowners Actually Pay for Solar
Going solar should lower your energy costs from day one, and the right financing plan is what makes that possible. Whether you live in Plano, Frisco, Arlington, Fort Worth or anywhere across Texas, Good Faith Energy offers flexible solar financing options with low monthly payments, so you can start saving without a large upfront investment.
Our team walks you through every option side by side for your exact system, from long-term solar loans and HELOCs to prepaid leases and third-party ownership. As an installer rather than a lender, our only goal is to find the plan that fits your budget and maximizes your savings. Below you will find each program we offer, who it is best for, and answers to the questions homeowners ask us most.
Lending Partners We Work With
Terms and pricing move with the market, so we quote them live rather than publish numbers that go stale. What does not change is the structure of each product and who it suits.
Credit Human
A member owned Texas credit union that has financed renewable energy for decades. The 20 year term is what most of our homeowners select. Three free reamortizations let you reset your payment after a lump sum, and there is no prepayment penalty if you decide to clear the balance early.
- 20 year term most popular
- Three free reamortizations
- No prepayment penalty
- $0 down available
Clean Energy Fund of Texas
A Texas based fund created to widen access to clean energy. Underwriting weighs your full credit history instead of a hard score cutoff, and terms are quoted individually. This is the path we point homeowners toward when a traditional lender says no.
- Built for lower credit scores
- Texas focused program
- Case by case underwriting
- Same installation standards
Figure Home Flex HELOC
A home equity line of credit we recently added for homeowners sitting on equity after years of North Texas appreciation. Draw what the project needs, keep the rest of the line available, and bundle solar with a roof replacement or electrical panel upgrade under one facility.
- Uses existing home equity
- Revolving line, not a fixed loan
- Covers solar plus roofing work
- Fast online origination
Prepaid Leases and Third Party Ownership
Residential buyers cannot always reach the incentives available to a commercial owner. A prepaid lease closes that gap. A tax equity partner owns the array during the initial term, claims the incentives a business can claim, and hands that value back to you as a credit against project cost, typically somewhere between 20 and 35 percent depending on the system and the provider.
In practice it feels like ownership from day one. The energy is yours, monitoring and performance obligations sit with the owner, and at the end of the term the system can transfer into your name. For homeowners with little tax appetite, this is often the cheapest honest route to solar in North Texas.
HDM Renewables
A tax equity partner that takes ownership of the system for the initial term, captures the commercial incentive value, and passes it through to you as an upfront credit on project cost.
Participate Energy
A prepaid lease provider offering the same structure with its own underwriting and monitoring. Between the two we can usually find a fit for most rooftops we design in the Metroplex.
Ownership Structures with MIDAS Wealth
Some of our clients own rental property, run a small business out of the house, or already hold assets in an entity. For them, MIDAS Wealth helps establish an LLC that can hold the solar asset so the commercial credit is claimable at tax time rather than left on the table.
This is a coordinated effort between MIDAS, your CPA, and our design team, because the structure has to be in place before the system is energized. Good Faith Roofing builds and services the system. We do not provide tax or legal advice, and we will always tell you to run the structure past your own advisor first.

None of these are locked the moment you ask a question. We routinely run two paths in parallel and let a homeowner pick once the approvals are back and the payments are on paper next to their current Oncor delivery charges.
Why Financing Looks Different in North Texas
The Metroplex sits in a deregulated retail electricity market, so your energy charge can change every time a plan renews while the delivery charges from Oncor keep climbing on their own schedule. A fixed solar payment is one of the only parts of a Texas energy bill you can actually pin down for the long run, which is why so many homeowners here compare a loan payment against a moving utility bill rather than against zero.
Home values across Collin, Denton, Dallas, and Tarrant counties have also risen sharply, which is what makes an equity product like the Figure Home Flex HELOC realistic for families who bought before the run up. And because Texas exempts the added home value created by a solar system from property tax, funding a project here does not create a tax consequence the way an equivalent improvement might.
One more local wrinkle: summer peak pricing and grid stress mean a large share of our customers add battery storage. Batteries change the financed amount, so we always price the system with and without storage before you commit to a term.
What the Financing Process Looks Like
Usage and Design
We pull twelve months of Oncor or TNMP usage and build a system sized to your actual load, not a template.
Options Side by Side
You see each path priced out on the same system so the comparison is apples to apples.
Application
One short application per lender, most with a same day answer and a soft pull to start.
Documents and Build
Funding documents sign electronically, then permitting, install, and utility interconnection begin.
First Payment After PTO
Payments are generally timed near permission to operate so you are not paying for a system that is not switched on.
