Why backup matters in Texas

Outages should be a non-event

Summer heat, spring storms and winter freezes all put pressure on the Texas grid. When it fails, food spoils, the house heats up and remote work stops.

Base is a home battery that sits quietly against your wall and takes over the moment power drops. Your kids keep playing, the dog keeps running laps and the refrigerator keeps humming.

Base Power questions

How much does Base Power cost?

Pricing depends on your service area and whether your utility has a partnership with Base. Contact us and we will give you exact pricing for your address, including any current utility offers.

Do I need solar panels to get Base Power?

No. Base is a standalone home backup battery. It works on homes without solar, and it can also work alongside an existing solar system.

How long will the battery keep my home running?

Up to 72 hours on the 78.4 kWh system, depending on how much energy your home uses during the outage. For context, Base reports the average Texas outage lasts about 2.5 hours.

How fast does it switch on during an outage?

In less than 0.5 seconds. Most homeowners do not notice the grid went down until they check the app.

Who maintains the battery?

Base covers maintenance of the battery system. If anything needs attention, Base and Good Faith Energy handle it.

Do I have to change my electricity provider?

Yes. The battery is provided as part of Base's electricity service, so your home enrolls in a Base electricity plan when the battery goes live.

Where can Base Power be installed?

Base is available in select Texas service areas, with expanded offers in areas where Base partners with the local utility. Send us your address and we will confirm eligibility.

Who installs it?

Good Faith Energy, the first solar installer in Texas to partner with Base Power for installations. Our own licensed electricians do the work.
